Second test sign-ups open: 3rd job, Ossyria, and macOS confirmed

Sign-ups for the second Closed Online Test are open on Nexon's site. They close July 29. Everyone must sign up again, even players from the first test. Nexon picks the testers and emails the invites. There are no beta keys. The test runs August 4 to 12 on Nexon Launcher. Characters are wiped when it ends. The big new addition is 3rd job. The test also adds Ossyria (Orbis and El Nath), play on macOS as well as Windows, controller support, more language choices, and extra GM events. You can also earn two rings for launch day. Reach level 10 and level 15 and finish the two event quests. That earns the Classic Beginnings Label Ring and Chat Ring. Do it in both tests and you get 2 of each ring.

China gets a launch date: CMS Classic opens August 3

Shengqu announced that the Chinese Classic server launches for real on August 3, 2026. This is a full launch, not a test, and Shengqu says it is built to run long term. At launch you get five classes (Warrior, Mage, Bowman, Thief, and Pirate), a level cap of 100 with the second job change, classic areas like Victoria Island and the Nautilus, and Free Market personal and hired-merchant shops. Pre-registration is open on the official site.

Second Closed Online Test announced: sign-ups July 16, test runs Aug 4 to 12

Nexon announced a second Closed Online Test for Global MapleStory Classic World. Sign-ups open on July 16. The test runs from August 4 to August 12. If you played in the first test, you still have to sign up again for a chance to join. You need a Nexon account to sign up, so make one now if you do not have one yet. Nexon says the official sign-up details are coming in the next week. The announcement went out on the official Facebook group and Instagram, along with a recap video of the first test.

CMS second test opens with unbound gold, face-to-face trading, and 5% fees

The second Chinese Classic test opened on July 2 at 2 PM China time. The big changes fix the economy rules that made players angry in May. Gold is no longer locked to your character. Face-to-face trading is back. The auction house takes regular gold now. Free Market personal shops and hired-merchant shops are back too. The trading fee dropped from 10% to 5%. Shengqu also rolled some maps back to their older look, removed the mini-dungeon system, and restored old details like potion colors and skill effects. The Cash Shop stays closed during the test.

CMS Return Island Test opens May 20 with daily test-currency stipend

The Chinese test starts May 20. It is free, and your characters will be deleted at the end. There are 2,000 spots. Streamers from Douyin (the Chinese version of TikTok) get extra spots that do not count against that 2,000. Every day you log in, you get test-only money (called 'adventure coupons'). By the end of the test, you can get up to 1.88 million points, worth about 18,888 yuan in real game money. The first 2,000 players also get a special coin with their own number on it.

Two days after the May 15 reveal, Shengqu wrote a long reply to angry players. They said the test will only use auction houses for trading. To prove they have a bot problem, Shengqu shared a number: they banned almost 20 million bot accounts on the regular server in just three months (January through March 2026). They said gold-binding and the one-ID one-account rule are needed to stop bots. They are still thinking about letting friends trade.
